If you are interested in getting a one-to-one tutor in the Ashford, Kent area from experienced science teachers and tutors in your own home then use the contact form. GCSE Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics. Also A-level.

Tutorials are typically one hour and start from £30 per hour (for KS3 in TN24 postcode). Prices are competitive and will vary depending on distance, level, frequency and time of tutorial.

If you live further afield then we may be able to travel to some locations or can arrange tutorials over Google Meet.

Getting the best out of tutoring

We have provided links to a wide range of free learning and revision resources to help students to progress well on their own. For some topics they will read text or watch  videos and fully understand. The lower level, knowledge-based learning of basic facts, definitions units and equations need to be done by the student themselves.

Where a tutor is of most value is when there are topics that the student finds difficult and requires one-to-one discussion to get a full grasp of it. By focussing on these topics, we can make the greatest improvement and maximise a student's potential.

Another place where a tutor is of high value is in going through exam questions with the student.

Tutoring is a two-way communication that is individualised for each student. For some students it is about stretching them to turn good grades into great ones. For others it may help to stop them struggling in class and to build confidence.

Either way, if the student uses links on this site to prepare for the topic being studied they can get the maximum benefit and best value for money.

About Conrad

As a teacher, I currently teach all science subjects to GCSE level and have taught Biology and Physics at A-level.

I have been teaching full time since 2007 at three different schools in Kent. I have also done tutoring at a range of levels, worked for a revision school and worked as an examiner for Edexcel and AQA. I also have experience in teaching current specifications from both of these exam boards.

Before teaching I spent over 15 years as a molecular biologist. I did scientific research at  University of Leeds, University of Oxford, Wye College (University of London), Imperial College and Hohenheim University. In addition, I spent almost three years as an International Consultant with the International Rice Research Institute as part of a DFID-funded project to help Bangladeshi scientists support farmers to grow rice more productively.
